The TIU Career Center is hosting the ¡°Job Hunting Intensive Program,¡± a series of four workshops aimed at helping E-Track students gain skills and knowledge needed to compete in the Japanese job market. In this post we will feature the third session that was held on November 14th.
TIU is partnering with Mr. Tatsuya Shimizu, an experienced career consultant, to speak at each session and help students understand the ins and outs of the job hunting process. The theme of the third session was understanding and analyzing different kinds of companies and business sectors, and expanding students¡¯ awareness about the many opportunities available to international jobseekers. The session combined lecture, group work, and short presentations to create an engaging and interactive experience.
Two alumni from TIU E-Track also came to speak ¨C Ms. Thu from Vietnam and Ms. Pattaranat from Thailand. After graduating from TIU E-Track with a bachelor¡¯s degree in Business Economics, Ms. Thu obtained a position in product and strategy at Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation ¨C a subsidiary of the Germany-based Daimler Truck AG ¨C in Kawasaki City, Japan. Ms. Pattaranat, who graduated with a bachelor¡¯s degree in International Relations, combined her experience in E-Track with an independently obtained IT-related certificate to obtain a digital marketing position at MinebeaMitsumi Inc., an electronics manufacturing company based in Tokyo. They both had amazing success stories to share and provided valuable tips on how to land a job in Japan.
Given that Japanese language proficiency can significantly boost job prospects in Japan, E-Track students are encouraged to take the language courses provided at TIU, which range from beginner to advanced and business levels. The international students participating in this Job Hunting Intensive Program, which is held in Japanese, have developed their language skills considerably since enrolling in E-Track, and are on their way to becoming serious competitors in the job market. Way to go!
The fourth and last session of this series will be held in December and will focus on practicing for the job interview. The TIU Career Center will continue to provide a range of services to help E-Track students successfully transition to their careers.
