The International Relations major helps future leaders develop their understanding of world issues, cultures, and societies. In this sample class experience, participants will get an introduction to Japanese anime and popular culture, and gain insight into how the country uses media to shape its global image and strengthen its “soft power.”

Dr. Barbara Greene is an Associate Professor of International Relations. She holds a Ph.D. in East Asian Studies from the University of Arizona and a Master of Arts in War Studies from King’s College, London. Her research interests include Japanese popular culture, Japanese contemporary literature, and collective memory. For more information on Professor Greene, visit:
