Memorandum of Understanding established between TIU and CERN
On 2021 Dec 23, Tokyo International University (Chancellor and Chair: Nobuyasu Kurata) established a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland, becoming an official cooperating organization.
CERN is the largest-scale particle physics research center in the world. It currently has an underground Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with a total length of 27km, and has announced a project to build an incredibly large LHC with a total length of 100km for approximately 3 trillion Japanese yen.
Dr. Fatih Ozaydin, Associate Professor in TIU’s Digital Business and Innovation major and member of TIU’s Research Institute for International Strategy, will lend his expertise and take part in the feasibility study for this project.
The design research for this project involved over 1,300 professionals from over 150 universities, research institutes, and corporations from around the world over a period of 5 years. The first and second official cooperating organizations in Japan are the University of Tokyo and the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) in Tsukuba City.
